Who You Hire Matters

Buying or selling a home is an exciting experience! There’s the thrill of the hunt, the excitement of the deal, and the feeling of accomplishment!

However, the experience can also become sub-standard and disheartening if you aren’t set up to manage all the things that come with buying and selling a home.

So, what’s the difference between the two outcomes?  A great agent.

A great agent can help you navigate the buying process with minimal stress, whereas a not-so-good agent might make the process harder on you (and your wallet) than it needs to be.   Working with an agent who is experienced and trustworthy can go a long way in ensuring your property sells at top dollar, or that you find the right home and buy it for the best price.

One mark of a fantastic agent is how well-connected they are to their industry and the resources they have in their network.  My network is composed of contractors, appraisers, lenders, banks, inspectors, stagers; anyone you would need to know as a homeowner.  Need a plumber?  I know a few.  If you need a reference or a hookup while purchasing a home, make sure your agent is willing and able to be that liaison.

I also have a network of agents I’ve built relationships with over the last 15 years.  This is important!  I know which agents sell in which neighborhoods and use that to help find off market listings for my clients.  I know which agents have partnerships with developers for new construction and renovations, so I’m able to find gorgeous homes for my clients before they hit the market.  I also have built a reputation with other agents as someone who will help make the entire transaction smooth for both parties and as a peer who will get the job done.  This goes a long way and often that camaraderie helps us win.

You also need a real estate agent who has your best interests at heart and is honest about the risks of buying or selling. You want someone who is realistic and can proactively mitigate risk.  I use tons of data when creating investment analysis, neighborhood-level market performance, and determining the long-term impacts of your decision to buy or sell.  I’m not afraid to be brutally honest (in a kind way, of course).

A great agent is a proactive campaigner for their clients; both sellers and buyers.  If you’ve walked through a home and it’s “the one”, they do everything they can so the home doesn’t get bought before you get a chance to drive home.  I am immediately on the phone with the selling agent asking how we can win, and continue to keep in touch as the process progresses advocating for my client.

As a selling agent, I leave no money on the table.  I follow up directly with everyone who expressed any interested in the home.  I call or email each buyer’s agent even if we’ve already received an offer to make sure we’re not leaving any money on the table.

Who you hire matters.  I have personal ties to our community and understand what makes our particular corner of the world special.  I am honest, hardworking, caring, and I am a fierce advocate for the people who entrust me with their investments, goals and dreams.

I’d love to do the same for you when you’re ready.
